Today I finished the cake which I've been working on since Monday.
I've used an iced white baseboard and bottom tier, with a gold tier on top, finished with raffia ribbon for a natural look.
I wanted the leaves to look like they were photographed in motion, as though they were still falling from the trees; so I have some cascading down one side of the tiers as well as laying on the base.
The cake looked very elegant with just a few leaves on, but I really wanted to take it to the next level so I added further interest with berries, ladybirds, mushrooms and feathers.
The little details help with the overall affect: the scoring on the acorn cap, the individual balls which make up the blackberries, and (my favourite) the veining on the underside of the mushrooms.
I'm really pleased with the final result and I hope you like it too!
